IRS Address Change Notification

Posted on 09/19/2025 ← Back to TaxBert's Tax Talk
How do I notify the IRS my address has changes?

To notify the IRS of an address change, you have a few options:

  1. File Form 8822, Change of Address [1]. You can download this form from www.irs.gov or order it by calling 800-TAX-FORM (800-829-3676).
  2. Update your address when you file your next tax return. The IRS will automatically update their records with your new address.
  3. If you're expecting a refund, you can also notify the IRS of your new address by calling 1-800-829-1040.

Remember, it's important to keep your address current with the IRS to ensure you receive any notices or correspondence they may send.

Additionally, don't forget to update your address with the U.S. Postal Service to ensure mail forwarding.
